Hey everyone – I hope your February has been amazing! If you’ve recently scrolled through British Vogue’s Instagram account, you may have spotted a photo of me in a recent post. The snapshot in question (that is even on their website) was taken at an exclusive preview of ‘Vogue X Snapchat: Redefining The Body’, a new, augmented reality exhibition blending fashion and tech.
It was such an honour to be personally invited to the preview! I tried on incredible gowns through the power of augmented reality, talked to fashion industry stars like British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful and designer Thebe Magugu, and locked eyes with the one and only Anna Wintour. Here’s the full lowdown of what happened:
Since the event coincided with the beginning of London Fashion Week, there was no excuse not to go full glam. My stylist @styledbyyln put together a stunning look, consisting of a gorgeous Victoria Beckham slip dress in gold (the material felt like a dream), sleek Tom Ford Padlock sandals, and a metallic clutch from Ralph and Russo. The dress was particularly special, as it’s the same gown Beckham wore to her son’s wedding and features metallic yarn from her favourite mill in Como, Italy – elegance at its finest.
Of course, the hair and makeup had to be equally glamorous. My hair was a stunning piece from the Good Hair collection that was styled by @eugenze. I adored the cascading curls which complemented the sheen of the dress. Meanwhile, @mahinaartistry kept my makeup sultry, applying shimmery eyeshadow that caught the light beautifully. Everything about the look was golden, goddess-like, and just divine.
Once I’d entered the venue for the event, it was amazing to see numerous fashion industry superstars all under one roof. I had a chance to talk with the amazing Edward Enninful, and at one point, I even locked eyes with the legendary Anna Wintour herself who was impressed by my shimmery dress. It was unbelievable to be in the same room as such an icon.
Besides all the mingling, I spent some time testing out the incredible tech on show. I usually hate trying on clothes as it messes up your hair, lashes, and brows, so the virtual changing rooms were a real treat. Through my phone, I got to try on a beautiful, red Stella McCartney dress. You could even save the outfits you’d tried on by scanning a QR code. Pretty impressive right?
Overall, it’s safe to say that I left the preview in an amazing mood. It was a joy to talk to some incredible individuals and test out tech from the future of fashion. Thanks so much for the invite Snapchat!
Until Next Time,
Lots of Love, Kika.
